CONSTRUCTION LIEN ACT
Changes To The
Construction Lien Act
Will Benefit Everyone
O
ntario construction
companies and their
subcontractors will soon be
able to count on being paid
on time and not have to go to
court to resolve disputes.
This is thanks to amendments made to
the Construction Lien Act (Act), which
received first reading in December 2017
and is expected to take effect by this
summer.
The Act has created a prompt payment
schedule which requires mandatory
adjudication in the event of disputes.
The law includes nearly all 100
recommendations from a report
commissioned by the provincial
government in 2015.
