Indra Energy Endures In The Name Of Sustainability

Indra Energy started as a fuel oil
heating company in Brooklyn , New York , back in 1938 . Robert Palmese ’ s grandfather and great-grandfather started the company just as oil was replacing coal as an energy source .
More than six decades later , the company moved to become more sustainable by phasing out oil as its primary offering and introducing electricity and natural gas . Sustainability and being environmentally conscious have been driving components in the company ’ s evolution and a key differentiator from its competitors .
From the 2000s to today , Indra has increased its energy footprint from one state to nine states across the United States .
In 2016 , Indra divested from fuel oil entirely to concentrate on natural gas and electricity in the form of hydro , wind , solar and other renewable sources . The company now focuses on promoting its green selection of products , doing its part to minimize the impact on the environment .
For small commercial and residential clients , renewable energy is now the only power option available from Indra .

In 2019 , the company began serving large commercial and industrial facilities , expanding an already rapidly growing energy footprint . Although renewable energy is too costly for many of these larger companies to sustain at this point , Indra is dedicated to making it easy for them to make the transition in the future .
The lockdowns during the end of winter and spring stopped the majority of Indra ’ s new business . In addition to this , new COVID regulations closed some of the company ’ s sales channels so teams could no longer get out and sell as they did before . Indra needed to adapt on a dime .
The company rose to the challenge by digitizing its marketing strategy and offering a risk-free guarantee to new customers that if they went out of business , termination and low-usage fees would not be charged .
Operating with everyone working remotely was challenging , but despite being an essential service , Robert did not want to force anyone to come back who wasn ’ t comfortable doing so . After a poll at the end of July indicated his teams preferred working at home , he decided to maintain remote operations for the foreseeable future .
Telecommuting has shown Robert that he doesn ’ t need to only hire locally when it comes to finding talent . Indra Energy will now be expanding its horizons and further increasing its own sustainable practices by employing remote workers in the long term .
Robert has been happy with the state and federal support he and his teams have received so far . Whether it is a new plan or a continuation of the current programs , he trusts in the capability of government to deliver the support that businesses like his need to get through the pandemic . He ’ s also relied on the careful support of the JGS team .
Indra Energy looks forward to establishing a new normal and continuing to promote sustainability in the nine states that it serves . +
