Thank you for joining us for another issue of JGS Risk & Business Magazine , we are so happy to share these exciting articles with you .
The focus for this issue is first on safety . In our article ‘ Virtually the Best Way to Train ,’ we talk about the need for repetitive training , irritating as it may feel for some employees , in maintaining safety in the workplace . We know that safety training can be complicated , which is why we ’ re offering virtual alternatives for your favorite seminars and training tools . When we consider unsafe acts , including both injuries and near misses , we can see the importance of adequately training your employees to respect and honor the safety protocols that keep everyone safe and happy at work .
Continuing with the virtual theme , we go on to talk about the prolific nature of cyber attacks in 2022 in Gwen Luu ’ s article ‘ Cyber Attacks : A Question of Responsibility .’ Cyber attacks have been increasing in frequency and severity for some time . The way business has changed over the last couple of decades has led to an increasing reliance on outside parties for data management and a slew of other services through SaaS ( software as a service ) companies . Unfortunately , changing from in-house solutions to outside vendors for many of those enterprise services and applications has led to lax security protocols . Knowing this , it ’ s important that you keep your organization protected . You can do this with the use of data security tools as well as the right insurance policy .
With recruitment and retention at the top of mind , reducing health benefits costs this year is a priority for many . Although experts predict a 6.5 % increase in medical expenses in 2022 , consistent with the rising costs we ’ ve seen for the last several years , there are still ways to strategize around benefits cost reductions . In this issue , we let you in on strategies for alternative plan modeling , health care literacy , telemedicine solutions , and prescription drug policy revisions in hopes you will incorporate these ideas into your risk management approach . Read about this in ‘ 4 Strategies for Reducing Health Benefits Costs in 2022 .’ Remember that there are many approaches for controlling benefits spending , but not all will work for each organization . That ’ s why it ’ s important for employers to closely analyze their health plan data and assess where they spend the most with your JGS Advisor .
Finally , in ‘ Why Trade Involvement is Important for Your Organization ,’ JGS Advisor David Velasco talks about ways your organization can grow through community service . These valuable insights offer some great pointers for getting more involved with community trade organizations and detail some of the benefits you can look forward to by doing this .
On behalf of all of us at JGS , thank you for reading and we wish you a safe and happy spring season . +
