CLORDISYS COMBATS COVID-19 WITH ROBUST
CONTAMINATION CONTROL AND RAPID GROWTH
Originally a component of
Johnson & Johnson, ClorDiSys
broke away to expand its
unique business model in
2001. Initially, manufacturing
chlorine dioxide gas products to sterilize
medical devices, the company has since
grown to serve a number of industries
including food safety, education, healthcare,
and transportation.
A key differentiation point for its business
model is how widespread the company has
become in the industries it serves. Senior
Manager Kevin Lorcheim says he has
enjoyed educating a diverse population of
people on the process of decontamination
and forming invaluable partnerships with a
variety of clientele.
Kevin began working with JGS following
an educational food conference hosted
by ClorDiSys. After one of the speakers
at the conference—food safety lawyer
Shawn Stevens— referred ClorDiSys to
JGS, Kevin decided to book an appointment
to strategize and explore a potential
partnership. He smiles to say that both
ClorDiSys and JGS are local businesses that
everybody needs but nobody wants to deal
with, so a formidable partnership emerged
naturally.
In fact, JGS and ClorDiSys have since
partnered up to host several webinars,
seminars, and conferences related to risk
and contamination control.
During the pandemic, Kevin consumed
many of the webinars and newsletters that
JGS put out. He notes that these were an
invaluable resource to both himself and his
wife, who also happens to be an insurance
agent. Kevin especially valued information
pertaining to changes to workers’
compensation and the new laws that most
business owners were struggling to deal with.
Being a contamination control company,
demand for its products and services
naturally spiked in response to the pandemic.
Kevin says a crystal ball would have helped
the company better prepare, but that the
ClorDiSys team made do with the resources
available. The company grew exponentially
in a matter of months.
One of its greatest challenges came when the
majority of businesses were closing down
and quarantining, working from home and
doing their best to stay away from people.
During this time, more and more people
were needed to meet surging demand for
ClorDiSys products.
The company workforce temporarily grew by
50%. Kevin says at least the timing worked
out in their favor because many qualified
workers became available for hire just as
ClorDiSys was in desperate need of extra
hands.
Managing the supply chain from Europe also
presented a hurdle in an already unsettled
regime.
The company overcame, though, without
a single case of COVID-19 among them.
Kevin credits this feat to extraordinary
contamination control as well as a shift in
office usage to reflect recommended social
distancing and safety measures. Each night,
the company’s own specialty UV lights have
been used to disinfect surfaces and tools for
the following day.
ClorDiSys has also worked actively in the
community with local restaurants that
needed preventative measures in place for
reopening, and they also reached out to
local schools and municipalities to see how
they could help keep those environments
clean. JGS looks forward to extending its
continued support to ClorDiSys as the
company manages accelerated growth and
consistent efforts to combat COVID-19 in
the community and beyond. +
