CYBER ATTACKS Cyber-Attacks On Main Street Businesses W e live in a fast-paced, technology-driven world where everything is a swipe or a click away. The technological advances made in the past five years are nothing short of miraculous. Our entire business and personal lives are no farther away than an application on our phone, which for most of us is probably within a two-foot radius. While technology makes our lives convenient, it is also convenient for hackers to steal sensitive information. Contrary to popular belief, hackers predominantly target small- to medium- sized businesses. According to research done by Travelers Insurance, 60 percent of all attempted cyber-attacks are on small- and medium-sized businesses. Many large firms have extensive web security and spend a considerable amount of resources to ensure their data is protected. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many Main Street business owners which is why there is an increase of attacks on smaller local businesses. Business owners need to take a hard look at their network security and determine if their business could withstand a cyber breach. Cyber Risk Insurance is a cost- effective way to make certain a business can continue to function if a cyber-attack occurs. Insurance carriers are offering extensive training and loss prevention. It is important for small businesses to take advantage of these resources and become as educated as possible on all aspects of a cyber-attack. + We know what it took to build this business.
