WELCOME

Welcome to our latest edition of Cooke Insurance Group Risk & Business Magazine.
I trust you have been enjoying the previous editions of our magazine and getting real value from the topics and guest authors.
As an organization focused on working with our clients to make them better risks, we believe education as well as risk management are equally important. Therein lies the reason we publish this magazine.
If we can help your company grow and prosper as a business, we are all better off. We want your focus to be on your business so that it can grow and prosper. This fulfills our desire not only to create better lives for ourselves but also to create better lives for the other individuals around us in our communities. Protecting your business is one of the keys to growing and maintaining your business, and that is our motivation and driving force.
I would like to mention the two scorecards featured in this issue: the Directors and Officers Liability Scorecard on pages 6 – 7 along with the Crime and Fraud Exposure Scorecard on pages 26 – 27. And if you are thinking about the next stage to your business, take a minute and make sure you also read page 28. Succession planning— moving your business from one generation to the next— is never easy. There must be a plan in place or it just will not happen. I say this through personal experience as Cooke Insurance Group has made the transition to the third generation of Cookes. It takes planning and execution, but it is worth the effort to see a business stay locally owned.
I welcome your feedback about this publication including recommendations for future topics. I can be reached anytime at JCooke @ cooke. ca or by phone at 902-566-5666 ext 4822.
Sincerely,
Jeff Cooke, President COOKE. CA
