We are nearing the end of the year, and the holiday season will be in full swing by the time we go to print. With that as the backdrop, we remain firmly committed to serving the insurance and risk management needs of our clients as we reflect on 2017 and shift our focus to the year ahead. The topics discussed in this edition include Contractors Pollution Liability, Cyber Risks, OSHA’s new Silica Standard, and an update on the Affordable Care Act. Although our Houston headquarters is still riding the high of the World Series Champion Houston Astros, the Gulf region has had its fair share of challenges during the course of the year, not the least of which was Hurricane Harvey and the historic flooding that accompanied that particular storm. While we considered taking advantage of this platform to talk about flood-related topics, it just seems too soon to venture down that road. Rather, we deemed it more appropriate to recognize the sense of community, the outpouring of support, and the local heroes that emerged in the days, weeks, and months following the flood. Many gave their time, talent, or treasure without any consideration to cost or any expectation of receiving payment in return. The people of the communities in and around the Houston area demonstrated for everyone else around the country what it means to be “Houston Strong,” and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those who are still recovering. For more than thirty-five years, BMB has provided our clients a commitment to excellence, innovation, and service. Our large-agency capabilities allow us to leverage talent and technology, enabling us to deliver world-class products and services to our clients while maintaining small-agency values. The clients we serve span a broad range of industries, including construction, energy, manufacturing, transportation, real estate, professional services, and marine. We also provide custom insurance products to help our clients navigate the increasingly complex world of insurance and risk management. Through this publication, we want to help keep our readers updated on the latest market changes, trends, and products. By staying at the forefront, w e are able to shape change and drive the industry to organize around the needs of our clients rather than reacting to issues after they’ve already emerged. We hope you find the content helpful and look forward to your continued feedback and support.
