When you get hit you hit back harder.
Obviously this does not mean getting physical, but publicly letting it be
known you are not a doormat. You
can do this through showcasing your
achievements, the admiration from
highly respectable leaders and (my
favorite) personally taking the time to
confront them at industry events to
make them sweat in front of you. Never
hide from your haters. Kill them with
kindness and be prepared to “Lawyer Up” as most haters don’t r un to
their mommies for support, but their
lawyers. Here is another statement to
adhere to: “Don’t take it personal; it’s
just business.”
Balance
I’m a wife, mother of two young
children and have two elderly parents I
care for. I live in a home that requires
so much renovation it would qualify
to be on DYI’s hit TV show, Million
Dollar Contractor. I am also a business
woman building a small company into
a brand. Everyone is catching on to
the fact that there really is no balance.
All you have are your priorities. I try
to keep the balance in my life by being
organized, treating my calendar like a
military operation and creating lists to
complete during the my start of the
day which is 5am. I am fulfilled by my
family and business venture that I don’t
mind losing sleep. I look forward to
taking on the day. This is my balance
that works for me most of the time,
but as someone once told me, “Athletes
play while injured and working moms
run businesses while exhausted.” Find
your balance and continue to focus on
what’s important.
