RISE, A Modern Guide for the Purpose Driven Woman Summer 2014 | Page 12

Summer always brings back memories, doesn’t it? From family vacations & camping
trips to friends & mischief... summer is ripe for adventure. Regardless of how old we get,
summer is always a season of release. Time to let loose, savor dinners with friends, play
like a kid, and soak up every ounce of sunshine we can. Days are longer, and weekends
start earlier. It is the perfect season for shedding the excess and focusing on keeping things
simple.
In a time that is increasingly dependent on technology, it is wonderful to be able to unwind time for a bit. We recently decided to spend our weekends unplugged {it is a work in
progress for me!} and just enjoy all that our community and region has to offer. From berry
picking to day trips to the beach, we are loving the opportunity to connect and build memories as a family. We have pallet projects and treehouse plans, a growing garden and a newfound love of grilling everything. While we have a pool to enjoy, the kids have become big
fans of the WiggleWorm sprinkler we found at a local Ace Hardware store, and they have
already logged hours out back playing and making up games. It is a joy to watch them. My
porch is dotted with glass jars, already worn from catching lighting bugs.
I hope that you and yours will enjoy this season, taking the time to savor what is fresh and
new, as well as nurture timeless pastimes. One of the things I know for sure is that this
season, like all the others, will pass too quickly. Don’t let it pass without new imprints on
your heart.
Rising together,
joanna
