A Look Back at the Village:
#BLACKONCAMPUS
THE
PENN
STATE
NARRATIVE
In the spring of 2001, “The Village” formed at Penn
State. Over 100 Penn State students of different races
marched from Old Main to the HUBRobeson Center
in protest of the treatment of black students on
campus and then camped out in the HUBRobeson
Center for over a week.
In The Village, students danced, hugged, prayed, and
united as they occupied the center for a very
important cause.
