This past October, pRock Rote ‘75
joined AccuWeather, the world’s largest
provider of mobile weather information
and technology. He is a National
Senior Account Executive in the Digital
Interactive Display division and relocated
from Milwaukee to the Raleigh-Durham,
NC region.
pJames H. O’Donnell ‘70 became
a member of the Fallbrook Union
High School (FUHSD) Board of
Trustees. O’Donnell, who retired from the
United States Marine Corps in 2000, has
lived in Fallbrook for 13 years. He served
as a Deputy Federal Security Director with
the Department of Homeland Security
before assuming his current post as the
Deputy Command Inspector General for
Marine Corp Installations West.
Mark Hammond ‘83, the former president
and CEO of Flagstar Bank, was named the
Co-Chairman of United Shore Financial
Services. He will also continue his role as
the managing partner of Bloomfield Hillsbased Alidade Capital, a private equity
firm.
The Detroit Lions named Scott Merchant
’89 their High School Football Coach of
the Week on Oct. 3 for his work as the
head coach at Chippewa Valley High
School. Merchant has been at the helm
there for five seasons and has two playoff
appearances under h is belt.
Don Gill ’84 and Scott Jenney ‘86 along
with their partners, recently announced
the opening of two new wine tasting
rooms in Suttons Bay, Michigan: Three
Fires Wine and Skipping Stone Cellars. The
wines are made entirely from Michigan
grapes. The tasting rooms are located
side-by-side on M22 at Hilltop Road on the
beautiful Leelanau Peninsula just south of
Suttons Bay in the West Bayshore Village.
Steven Abowd ’80, a University of
Notre Dame graduate, is now working
for Beaumont Home Health Systems in
Madison Heights.
After much anticipation and delay,
John Lombardi ’86 has tapped the keg.
Lombardi Lager debuted at Titletown
Brewing Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin
where the Lager was created.
Other
events at various taverns in Green Bay
were also scheduled as his brew was
unveiled this fall.
pMike Ingberg ’88 is a senior account
executive with Marx Layne & Company
in Farmington Hills, MI. Mike is pictured
here with current welterweight boxing
champion Timothy Bradley. The photo
was taken at Bradley’s 2011 fight at the
Silverdome against Devon Alexander that
Ingberg helped promote.
Casey O’Loughlin ’89 is a Lieutenant
with the Ferndale Police Department. He
earned his degree from the University of
Michigan, and is also a graduate of the
FBI National Academy. He and his wife
Shannon currently reside in Troy.

pGreg Kiselis ‘82 is the inventor and
engineer responsible for bringing the
Mack TwinY Air Suspension to production.
This suspension has been named a finalist
for the Swedish Steel Prize.
Gregory J. Schwartz ‘82 was appointed
to the Wayne State University Physician Group Board. Greg is a director at
Schwartz & Co. in Bloomfield Hills and
has been in the investment business
since 1986. He will serve a one-year term
as a community business representative
for the nonprofit multispecialty physician
group.
Kevin Cassidy ’87 partnered with alumni
parent, Tom Celani this past summer to
bring back Freedom Hill. Cassidy maintained the general managing duties, and
Celani (father of Vinnie ’09 who acted
in operations management at the venue
this summer) signed a 20-year lease with
Macomb County for Freedom Hill. They
also added $1 million in capital improvements and contracted a deal with Los
Angeles-based concert promoter and
booking company AEG, which enabled
Freedom Hill to attract much bigger acts.
