Meet Our New Faculty Mr. Hubert Saunders Sophomore Theology Teacher Lives in: Redford Born in: Detroit Spouse: Monica Prior Employment: Theology teacher at St. Frances Cabrini in Allen Park What did you know about Brother Rice before you were hired: There is a long and trusted legacy at Brother Rice. What is something everyone should know about you: I absolutely love teaching theology.  My goal is to be in union with the Magisterium that Jesus’ voice is lifted up!! What is something most people don’t know about you: I’m also a bookkeeper at a Catholic church in Detroit, instructor at my home parish, and adjunct faculty member at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Keith Shafer Latin I Teacher Lives in: Livonia Born In: Buffalo, NY Spouse: Emily Prior employment: I taught at Truman State University, the University of Missouri, Missisquoi Valley High School (VT), and Middlebury Union High School (VT) What did you know about Brother Rice before you were hired: I knew almost nothing about Brother Rice. What is something everyone should know about you: I’m a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. What is something most people don’t know about you: I once had a job reading obituaries all day. The new B-Wing combined with our current spectacular science and engineering staff will provide limitless options. With more room, newer technology and advanced learning opportunities the ceiling is higher than ever — literally and figuratively. Sister Barbara O’Neill Sophomore and Junior Theology Teacher Lives in: Farmington Hills Born in: Philadelphia, PA Prior employment: I have been a formal classroom teacher for 21 years, teaching first and second grades and then high school. What did you know about Brother Rice before you were hired: I had always heard about the great spirit among the students, faculty, administration and parents. What is something everyone should know about you: I have worked as a consultant, workshop presenter and liturgy team member for parishes, dioceses, and national conventions. What is something most people don’t know about you: I am working with a major composer on new workshop ideas that incorporate the use of music in ritual, writing for a newsletter, and exploring the possibility of publishing a book or series of books to be used as resources in parishes and schools. 17
