Staff Honored On October 26, 2013 a group of Brother Rice staff members were honored during festivities at this year’s Annual Catholic League Prep Bowl Day. Together, they have served over 140 academic years in Catholic education. These impressive teachers and staff members were recognized on the 50 yard line at Ford Field during halftime of the CYO Championship game. “Brother Rice is pleased to be able to honor these dedicated servants,” said Principal Brother Michael Segvich, CFC. “Our faculty and staff are the heart and soul behind the success of our fine school. As a way of honoring her father, Louis J. De Simone, Ms. Leslie De Simone, Brother Rice Science Department faculty member, has created a scholarship to be awarded to a young man who presents the qualities and talents that her father embodied: artistry, vision, pursuit of excellence, integrity and kind-heartedness. He has also been very involved with the Beyond Basics Program, the Baldwin Center, and worked in the Beaumont Hospital Summer Volunteer Program. Bradford Jones has been very involved with a variety of service projects. Bradford took part in a mission trip to Haiti with a group from Kensington Church, worked with building projects and helped with young children, helping in the nation’s recovery from its devastating earthquake.
