As an example: Whenever I do a 'hosted' review, I am constantly on edge, trying to get the best information, insights or photos possible. Even if I am eating or drinking something, I don't dare to relax and be 'in the moment' - because I need to be professional and attentive. Then I still need to properly research and write about my experience for 1-2 hours minimum, edit it (which can take an hour or two alone, especially if you edit your pics too) - and of course, still promote it on social media... Whether this is through live sharing the event/review as it happens or promoting it online in the days to follow, it's a big process... (Even composing a Tweet t takes careful thought and planning if you do it right!)
Secondly, I feel that, more often than not these days, brands overlook the smaller or more niche bloggers - who, while they might not have a 10k following, are passionate, talented and still possess a loyal readership - in favor of top influencers or bloggers simply because there is a certain reputation or given 'huge reach' that comes with that blogger. It's quite a sad industry flaw for me, to be perfectly honest, and one which makes it extremely hard for smaller bloggers to actually grow their following and reach. It's so hard to break in if you aren't in a select circle, and I would love to see that change. Give people a chance - whether they have 20,000 Instagram followers... or just a 100.
If you don't vary who you approach as a brand and start from the ground up, then you may really miss out on some great bloggers. Have big and small bloggers work together even, if you'd prefer to have the best of both worlds - trust me, you will be astounded by the results and friendships they strike up!
