Plan to Step Forward on Purpose with Goals

Now that we are moving forward in the new year, 2020, it’s time to make plans to create and carry out your goals.
Most of us make resolutions but they are usually not carried out. If you look at it differently and make your resolutions goals you can break them down and pick at them a little at a time.
For example, you may want to write a book but it can’t be done without spending time to decide what you want to write about and how it will be completed.
There are many aspects of compiling a book:
- Create the story itself
- Research if it isn’t a story about yourself
- Make a decision on the title
- Ask: Will you hire someone to publish your book or self-publish?
- Think thru any other aspect that comes with the creation of a book
This example shows you can’t write a book and sell it immediately. It goes for most things we plan for. You need a plan to accomplish your goals. There are several ways you can do this:
- You can voice it out loud to someone and have them be your sounding board and
ask them to be supportive of you.
- You can make a list of what goes into these goals.
- You can make a Vision Board or Creation Journal (this is the way I do it because
the board is then in my point of vision daily as I walk past it).
To create a vision board you can use any type of paper or poster board of any size. Cut out photos and words/phrases from magazines and add some of your own photos. You can lay them out any way that makes sense to you. One of my boards showed a picture of the first book to which I contributed and then an open door (which represented the book opening doors for many other possibilities). On the bottom I put a picture of Hawaii. It produced a trip within 2 months!
You can make a yearly board or month by month, whatever makes most sense to you. I have an album which is called a Creation Journal. I made each page for each month and continue to add to it. This may be a simpler way if you want to create a monthly one because you don’t have to gather different size paper, etc. It shows your planned journey as it unfolds. You can also add to each month your accomplishments as they occur.
Create your plans purposefully so they are easy to carry out. You may want to include others to create their boards and journals at the same time. It becomes a fun day for each of you. You can get together several times a year to compare accomplishments and add new visions. This will help keep the forward momentum going.
