I am passionate about children and education. I have a special place in my heart for students with behavior challenges.

~What are some ways you are helping to bring this forward in the world?

I have established a micro school that is designed to specifically meet the unique needs of learners who aren’t thriving in traditional classrooms. Students are taught the way they learn best and have the flexibility to move, rest and self-regulate as needed.

~Describe something our readers today can look forward to discovering in the book, The Refractive Thinker: Project Management. Specifically in your chapter - The Impact of Educational Curriculum Design :

Readers will discover alarming, but thought provoking education statistics that I hope will help them to make informed decisions about their children’s participation in the public-school system.

~What are 1-3 tips you can give our reader today to help them step forward in their life powerfully?

1. Seek knowledge for yourself. Don’t blindly take the advice of others.

2. Be empowered to question anything that concerns you in your child’s school and insist upon answers.

3. Trust NO ONE with your child’s education. NEVER assume your child is learning, especially based on good grades.

~Will you share a client success story?

I worked with a family with a kindergarten student with very severe behaviors. The family reported they couldn’t take him anywhere without him having nuclear meltdowns or other oppositional behavior. When I met him, he had been taken out of school to be homeschooled as his needs could not be met in the traditional classroom. He couldn’t hold a pencil or cut with scissors. He also could sit for more than 3-4 minutes. Less than a year later, this young man is reading, writing, using scissors, doing science projects, going on road trips and shopping with his mother with no significant problems. Through teaching the parent’s behavior strategies, and meeting the student’s needs, the family has experienced great success.
