When I was growing up, school subjects were the basics: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Well, because I attended a parochial elementary school, religion was also a mandatory subject. The nuns did include other subjects on a rather sporadic basis. Sometimes it was comical. Have you ever witnessed a nun in full habit running to catch a fly ball? Or demonstrating a square dance move? Yes, the nuns were in charge of our physical education, and I vividly remember square dancing included in PE time. Music class was usually learning a new song for Mass. And art class was wedged in here and there. In other words, creativity was not a high priority for my teachers.

Despite having no history or training in the creative arts, I pursued several avenues of art as a means to cope with the life experiences I have encountered. I would say creativity has helped me more than cope; it has empowered me to find balance in my soul.

Breast cancer and other life events fueled my decision not to wait for life events to change my life; I would choose how I wanted things to change. I went out in search of opportunities. I love learning and growing by taking classes, workshops, and retreats across the country. I’ve met some incredible women by leaving my comfort zone and saying “yes” to creative experiences. And I created some inspirational experience opportunities too. Because I know how much I enjoyed attending and participating in retreats, I’m committed to hosting a three-day women’s creativity retreat annually.

You and I are the only individuals who can determine what our normal is and what it takes to be in balance with our soul. And to show the world just how amazing we are!

I invite you to consider bringing your soul back into balance to create your normal. A normal you are not only happy with, but a normal you love. A life that embraces your amazing self.

I have such compassion for you. It’s scary to step outside of your normal day-to-day routine to explore something new. I get it. So, let’s take a look at how tapping into what small shifts would best help you connect to your soul’s balance story.

What if you:

- Simply started blocking out time on your calendar every day to focus on your dreams and write down one thing you could do towards making your dream a reality?

- Gave yourself the gift of an adventure to a new coffee shop, bookstore, or art gallery to drink in beauty once a week?

- Started researching a class, workshop, or retreat you want to sign up for to dive into new ways to express your creativity this quarter/year?

It brings me joy to inspire you to bring balance to your body, mind, and soul.

I hope by now you know I believe that no one else is qualified to determine what is normal for you. We are unique individuals who are resilient in the face of life’s lessons and recreate our normal daily. We are amazing in our pursuit of not settling for somebody else’s vision for us.

I’d love to help you hear the whispers of your soul and about your amazing life. If you would like to learn more about connecting to your soul’s balance story, schedule a time to chat with me today!
