know or remember the difference you made always making the lefse, baking the challah bread, sending those funny cards for no reason, and the list goes on and on. What about capturing the history of lost generations of things that will not be accessible by Google. Those things that not everyone knows and someday will wish they had.
Google can’t reveal the reason why I’m compelled to be a catalyst for other women to share their message is because when I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time I was scared to death. I knew that was my wake-up call to not only write my book, I knew I was meant to be there for other women who didn’t think they had a story.
Think about how some of these stories could make a difference for your loved ones. How did your great-grandparents, grandparents and parents meet? How did they earn a living? Were they active in the community? What difference did they make in their circle? Did they live by the share the same values as you do today?

By that I mean, you make the commitment to begin a Writing Practice in 2022. By deciding to write for five minutes on a daily basis, you create an opportunity to have a conversation on paper with an incredible human being-namely yourself. Set a timer and let your hand move across the page for five solid minutes. Please do not do this at the keyboard. Typing puts you in another part of your brain, and your subconscious starts editing, and you are not truly writing what you think. You must write longhand so that you have a direct connection between your heart and your hand.
I know some of you are worried that you don’t know what to write, even if you did show up on the page for five-minutes. Here is a question to ask at the beginning of every five-minute writing session: What does my heart want me to know right now?
I guarantee that you can ask that same question every day for a week, a month, or a year and you will get a different answer 99% of the time. Why 99%? Because sometimes we don’t get the message the first time and it has to be repeated. Or, it was rephrased so we could more easily understand and absorb it.
“What you do makes a difference,
”Jane Goodall tells us, “and you have
to decide what kind of difference you
want to make.”Only you can decide
what kind of difference you want to
make. Writing is a great tool to help
you decide what kind of difference
and then go on to make a difference
with your words impacting the world.
