EDITOR’S NOTE
I’d like to rant, bear with me. I grew up in Botswana and the
bus drivers were horrendous. I moved to Cape Town, and then
Johannesburg. Same story. Came back to Zambia - same story.
I was driving my family home from church one Saturday, coming
from a northerly direction, driving round a circle and turning to
go west. Simple procedure. Not so simple for the bus driver who
rolled straight into our side. With the passenger door destroyed
and my grandmother in shock, the driver’s excuse was ‘bad
breaks’. And the consequences? A K150 fine for ‘reckless driving’.
A fine which was K6,000 a few days earlier when a friend of mine
pulled off at a red robot a bit too quickly.
On some level, I understand the reckless driving. I personally
don’t mind when I’m on a bus and in a rush to get to my
destination. So for the passengers, it’s not something hectic.
Although as passengers on public transport, you don’t seem to
worry about the fact that the gentleman up front is risking the
lives of everyone on that bus with his antics. Not to mention the
fact that there are also people in the car that gets damaged.
All I’m saying is that we need to care a little more about other
people than we do about making money. That’s it. I’m done.
As far as content goes this month, We’ve put together a variety of
pieces that we’re sure will have you engrossed for long enough
to burn your pot of 2-minute noodles. We had the chance to testdrive the Chevrolet Trailblazer, headed over to Nonna’s Pizzeria
for lunch with the coolest Italian you’ve ever met, and had a blast
with all the events we did in the last month. We had lots of fun
getting this one to you, so get in there!
