How long have you known
each other?
K: About a year now
S: Whoa, I think a year and
a half, maybe: timelines are a
bit blurry…
How did you meet?
K: Seb’s manager and I are
friends and he asked me if I
would be interested in doing
collaborative work with a DJ
to house music. I said ‘Oh
yeah!!!’ so he instructed Seb
to come hear me sing at my
next ‘Ben & Kiki’ gig which
was at the Gymkhana Club.
When we were introduced I
may have frightened him a bit
with my enthusiasm…. Haha!
It was great to meet him after
hearing so much about him!
S: We met through Guy
Fisher; after he heard my
music he said he had the
perfect voice for it. So we
went to see Kiki and Ben live
and I was blown away!
What was the first project
you worked on together?
K: ‘Deep Inside’ our hit
track! Sebastien wrote it and
recorded himself singing it
on his phone so he could
show it to me. He sounded
so cute in his slightly off key
voice; it’s unfortunate he has
lost that original demo (or
so he says…..!?). I took it and
worked it, added ad libs etc
and we laid down the track
instantly in one evening.
S: Well, I sent her a bunch of
beats and she wrote lyrics to
them; but the first project we
did was ‘Deep Inside’
How long have you been
involved with music?
K: ‘Since forever… School
days, then went on to study a
degree and Masters in Music
Performance. I performed
and taught in the UK before
returning to the motherland
and I keep going!
S: I started making music at
about 15, playing with old
music software, which when
you compare to the stuff we
have now was really rubbish
