4 things every traveller forgets to do before their vacation

Okay, you’re ready for a vacation. All you need to do is pick an amazing destination, book it and get there. Sounds simple, right?

We know that getting organized can actually be quite daunting, especially for first-time travelers. Heck, it can be tricky for those that travel regularly. Where’s best to go this time of year? What if you forget to pack something? What if you haven’t budgeted enough?

Don’t worry, we can help! Whether this is your first trip or you just need a refresher, we’ve pulled together the five simple and practical things that travelers so often forget before jetting off…

Check exchange rates

Money talks! Seasoned travellers often check exchange rates and narrow down their top travel destinations by how far their rand will go. Keep an eye on the varying rates and this could help you narrow down your destination.

BYO snacks

Feeling ‘hangry’ is the worst. Whether you have dietary restrictions, are a picky eater, or just don’t enjoy airplane food, you aren’t alone. Ditch the lack of food or expensive price tags and bring along your favorite snacks. Granola bars are also great to help keep you fueled when you get there.

Get on top of your travel documents

When choosing where to go or after you’ve booked your trip, make sure to do your research on visas. Sounds obvious, but some visa and entry documents take time to process so it’s always best to be the early bird on this one. You’ll also want to arrange your travel insurance sorted in advance.

Early bookers also tend to get the coveted window and aisle seats, affordable prices on trips and airfare.

Check security lines in advance

There’s an app for that. Reduce your travel anxiety and be prepared for any airport line situation by downloading helpful line tracking apps like App in the Air, MiFlight, or MyTSA. You don’t want to be the one asking everyone to hop the security line because you’re running late.
