Amsterdam raises travel levy
Amsterdam will add a levy of $3 (R45) per person, per night for travellers staying in hotels, reports CNN.
From January 1, 2020, it will be added to the tourist tax in Amsterdam, which is currently 7% of the cost of the room, excluding breakfast. This tax applies to hotels, apartments, campsites and privately owned holiday rentals or bed and breakfasts.
Children under 16 are exempt from the new levy, and campsites will charge just $1(R15) per adult.
