REVOLUTIONS Cosplayer's - Issue 1 | Page 13

One of the highlights of this year was a tribute to Star Wars thatbrought some of the original stars along with a musical tribute concert by the San Diego Philharmonic Orchestra, who played the music of Star Wars to big screen clips from the movies. Nearly 7000 people attended this event on the waterfront at the convention center and waited in line for many hours to get a seat. The concert ended with a spectacular fireworks display over the San Diego Harbor. In addition to the festivities at the convention center, the Gaslamp Quarter was aglow in entertainment and activities which went from morning to late in the evening with dinner and drink specials at the various bars and restaurants in the Quarter. The studios spent a small fortune decorating various buildings in the Gaslamp Quarter with building wraps promoting new shows for the next season and they even spread to cover the upper floors of high-rise hotels. The streets were filled with Cosplayers and actors in costume hired by studios or networks to promote their movies or television shows. It was quite a display of activities and people all for the most part having fun. 9
