bondage. Have you ever thought about
that? It was sin that caused Satan to
be expelled from heaven and sin that
caused the fall of humanity.
Sin is the root evil, and every other
evil is the fruit of sin. Jesus came first
to destroy the root of sin and then move
against the fruit – sickness, bondage
and demonic control. As He approached
the cross, Jesus said, “The ruler of this
world is coming and he has nothing in me”
(John 14:30). Jesus was able to defeat
Satan on the cross because Satan
had no hold on Him.
Absolute victory
Jesus lived a sinless life, totally
victorious over all the works of Satan.
That’s why he could speak a word, and
the demons would come out. That’s why
He could command sicknesses to leave
and they would leave. He was sinless and
the devil had nothing in Him.
done. I have seen the Lord do these
things. Many times I have watched him
destroying the power of the devil, and
moving against principalities as we pray
and intercede, proclaim the Word of
God, and minister in the power of the
Holy Spirit. But these things are not
the deepest work of God. They are all
external consequences of something
more evil that lies at their root.
Sin is defeated
Jesus came to deal with all the devil’s
works, especially sin. If there had been
no sin, there would have been no
sickness in the world and no demonic
And this is good news for us, because
Jesus has placed us in the same position.
Because we are in Christ the devil has
nothing in us either. He has no hold over
us. There is no reason for a believer in
Jesus to be defeated on a single score.
Jesus came into this world to deal with
the root of sin and to remove sin from us
totally and forever so that God’s will and
purpose would be perfected in our lives.
And God’s will is totally, 100% against sin.
And He has dealt with it at every level
in our lives.
