I was so disturbed in my spirit, that I went to talk to a senior prophetic figure in the UK, and shared what I had seen. He pointed me to Romans chapter one where it says, “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.” He pointed out that God’s wrath is the background to the gospel of Christ. This is why the verb is in the present tense, “the wrath of God is being revealed.” I also saw that the major thrust of the judgement was God handing over society to its own wickedness and godlessness. That is why the apostle Paul was so eager to preach the gospel in Rome. It was a city under judgement, but that was exactly the time to preach the gospel. It is the only power of God for salvation, for deliverance from judgement and for entering into the life of God. It is twenty years after the picture of the angel of grace and the angels of judgment surrounding London. God has called us to the 20:20 vision in the light of what is coming to London and to Britain. He has called us to repentance and faith. Repentance from our sins and faith to put Christ first in our lives. Over the last two decades, we have seen our society move further and further from God. But, sadly, God’s people remain silent. They seem to be ashamed of the gospel and, in many ways, they are retreating rather than advancing. It is time for that to change. It is time for the church to rise up with strength and hope, knowing that the gospel, its message and its fruit, is the only hope for our nation and the only hope for London. There is still more grace for our city, if we are willing to humble ourselves, turn to the Lord afresh and be the people he has always called us to be.
