TIME ALONE WITH GOD
“AND WHEN HE HAD SENT THE MULTITUDES AWAY, HE WENT UP
ON THE MOUNTAIN BY HIMSELF TO PRAY. NOW WHEN EVENING
CAME, HE WAS ALONE THERE.”
Luke 8:4-8
F
elix, is one of our youth leaders
who leads a cell of young men
every Sunday whilst also playing
the guitar for the KT Worship team.
He’s written a short article to encourage
you to invest in your relationship
with Jesus.
We are all given a certain amount of
time in our lives, and so we need to
make sure that we use it wisely. Nothing
can stop the flow of time and once it
has passed, it cannot be brought back.
Therefore, managing our time is one of
the most important things we can do but
it can also be one of the most difficult.
There is so much to do in the short
time that we have. Studying for exams,
socialising with friends, staying in shape,
keeping up with the latest gadgets, etc.
As a teenager, I was really bad at
managing my time. I remember on the
days I did not have school, I used to sit
and play video games all day completely
forgetting about the coursework I had
to hand-in the next week. Then the
night before the deadline, I would pull
an all-nighter to get it completed, which
resulted in me not getting the best result
I was capable off.
Research says; the average young
person checks his or her phone 85 times
a day, has 5 social media accounts and
spends 6 hours a day browsing those
networks; and that’s not even counting
time spent on YouTube and Netflix!
Though they’re part of your social
interaction, they can prevent you from
using your time in the most valuable way,
which is spending time with God.
Spending alone time with God gives
us the chance to truly get to know and
experience him. No matter how busy
Jesus was, he always made time to be
alone with the Father (Matthew 14:23).
It also opens up opportunities for God
to speak to us and give us guidance
(Acts 13:2).

When I became a Christian, God told
me to give away my television, PC and
gaming consoles. During this time, I
really experienced God speaking to me
in dreams and visions on top of that I
also learnt how to play the guitar.
It is worth making that sacrifice to
spend time with God. Whether it is
turning your phone off for an hour or
spending less time on the Internet and
using that time to read the bible, pray
or sing to him. The more time spent
with God, the more sensitive you get to
hearing his voice and he will be able to
guide you in your daily life.
