HUNGRY
FOR GOD
Colin and Amanda Dye’s Primary Leaders reflect on the
current move of the Holy Spirit and how it is affecting them
and their cell members
CHRIS
Around year and a half ago I was woken up at 4am by a dream. I
saw a nice, big ship anchored in a harbour. But then all the ropes and
chains holding it in port were severed, and the ship began to drift
out of the port into the open seas. The sea was choppy and the ship –
which I sensed was the church or I – wasn’t used to the sea; it was
used to being docked in a stable, comfortable port. But now it was
being tossed to a fro by the waves, and I began to feel seasick.
Then the Lord said, “Anchor yourself to me”. When I began on
anchoring myself to Christ, the storm started to subside. The waves
began to settle, and the wind of the Spirit began to fill the sails again.
We lifted the anchor and started to sail on toward a new horizon.
As a church and individuals, we are not called to rest safely in the
harbour. A ship will eventually begin to rust if it stays in a harbour.
Instead, we are called to sail in the seas with Christ. He is calling us
to leave the safety of the port – the earthly structures and our self-
endeavours, and to trust in him fully – to be dependent on him so
that he can lead us with the wind of the Holy Spirit.
Then the wind of the Holy Spirit can fill us anew, and we can sail
whole-heartedly and at full speed on to a new horizon of what he has
for us in this time and in this season. And we can go forward safely in
the knowledge that if there are storms then we will be able to anchor
ourselves to him. ➜
