NEW YEAR ’ S RESOLUTION : LOVE
Last month was the first month of the year and the children did not just learn about prayer , like how to pray , and why we should pray , they actively practised the art of praying . Some of the older children realised that prayer is not just us speaking , but it is also an opportunity to listen and wrap ourselves in the wonderfully cosy arms of God .
On 14 February the world celebrates a day associated with love . Do you know what it is called ?
But as Christians every day is like our Valentine ’ s Day , as the love of God has been poured into our hearts ! How I hear you ask ? Because the Holy Spirit now lives in our hearts , and he lives there because we believe Jesus Christ the son of God was born as a man , died on a cross and rose again from the dead , so that all who would believe , would have his Holy Spirit in their heart , as a sign of his never ending love for us .
So what are we going to do with all of this love in our hearts - which can never run out !
We are hoping that all of the children in KT will have made a 2018 New Year ’ s resolution that will be to use the love which God has for us , to grow it : by reading our Bibles , memorising his words , singing psalms and so many other things in order to � LOVE others !
Please read with your children ( or by yourself ): Luke 10:25-37 , the Good Samaritan .
Many people think of themselves when the new year starts and ask , “ What can I do to make myself better ?”
This year , we want to inspire children ( actually all our readers !) to think , “ How can I make life better for other people ?” God wants us to love others with our actions so they can see Jesus in us .
Dear Father , Open our eyes so that we can be loving to other people , no matter what they say or do to us , good or bad . In Jesus ’ name , Amen
