Greg Downes, Theologian and Missioner
of St Michael Le Belfrey Church in York
(3rd from left), outlined the 95 Theses. He
said that Luther was still enmeshed within
the Catholic system when he wrote them,
seeking to reform the Catholic Church
rather than separating from it.
Graham Tomlin, the Bishop of Kensington
(2nd from right) spoke on Calvin, Luther and
the Holy Spirit and showed how the reformer
John Calvin’s theology can give a good
foundation for Charismatic theology today.
Saltmine Theatre Company performed
Luther: The Legacy, a play that dramatizes
Luther’s inner turmoil and guilt that led to the
Reformation, as Luther was seeking to find
answers to his inner anxiety in the Bible.
All the conference delegates received a
free bag full of goodies including a thermos
mug, Luther 500 notebook and a book by
Associate Pastor Bruce Atkinson.
After each session there was plenty of time
for questions and answers.
Dr RT Kendall taught also on how Luther
misunderstood the Book of James. A good
introduction into how to understand the Book
of James can be found in our Associate
Pastor Bruce Atkinson’s book Shut Up
and Show Me!
Audio and video of the Luther 500
conference Semniars are available free
