A defensive tower built in the
13th century, almost at the
end of the Moslem period. Its
Arabic name, Bury Al Dahab,
means the Golden Tower, be-
cause the upper part was co-
vered with golden tiles which
reflected the sun, and they
could be seen kilometres
away. Nowadays, it is the ho-
me of the city´s Naval Mu-
seum.

Interesante muestra del estilo
plateresco. La construcción
de la Casa Consistorial se ini-
ció en 1527 por Diego de Ria-
ño, continuándose el edificio
en el siglo XIX por Demetrio de
los Ríos. La fachada que po-
demos ver desde la Plaza de
San Francisco está sin termi-
nar, porque al morir el arqui-
tecto, como no había planos,
los escultores no quisieron
acabarlo.
An interesting example of the
plateresque style. The cons-
truction of the Casa Consisto-
rial (town hall) began in 1527
by Diego de Riaño, with it
being continued in the 19th
century. The façade of the Pla-
za de San Francisco is unfinis-
hed because when the archi-
tect died, the sculptors didn't
want to finish it.

GOLDEN TOWER
Torre defensiva construída en
el siglo XIII, casi a finales de
la época musulmana. Su nom-
bre en árabe, Bury al Dahab,
significa Torre Dorada, ya que
estaba recubierta en su parte
superior de azulejos dorados
que reflejaban el sol, y se po-
