assessment, the emphasis is usually on assessing communication – i.e. did the
speaker/writer express the idea precisely enough for the target situation? 10 In the case of
General English, formal examinations consist of a written paper which insists on
grammatical accuracy and vocabulary. Oral examinations also take into account fluency,
pronunciation and general communicative ability. Informal assessment (e.g. of class
performance in general) might focus on grammatical accuracy, vocabulary and
pronunciation.
English for business is a domain full of dynamism, undergoing continuous change,
because it is closely related to the changes in society. Teaching English for business can
be very rewarding and comes with lots of satisfaction for the teacher.
In today's world, where one of the key words is competition, it is very important to
know not only general English, but to have specialist knowledge from the field of business
too. Our entire life is spent on a huge business field, where almost everything is bought or
sold; therefore it is a great advantage to be as informed as possible in all respects.
