step they take in the use of language for a communicative purpose.
All in all, the communicative or functional approach to grammar represents the
optimal way of turning students into efficient communicators. Consequently, teachers have
the major role of creating a learning environment that is based on real-world patterns. This
will shape the student's ability to choose the most appropriate language according to the
specific communicative purpose and social context.
