content and get more opportunities to apply their knowledge and demonstrate their ability
to use it, thus developing their higher-level cognitive skills. In this way, they make more

What might be argued is that this approach increases the teacher preparation time
because PowerPoints, videos or infographics need to be prepared in order for students to
have the content they need to get familiar with available at home. However, nowadays, the
internet is abundant in this kind of materials, and, if chosen well and with a clear purpose,
they can help us and our students enormously. One such example is Everyday Grammar
TV on VOA Learning English (https://learningenglish.voanews.com/z/4716). Designed for
learners of American English, these short lessons divided into episodes (2 minutes long)
offer clear and fun explanations of different grammar issues ranging from very simple to
more complex ones, like wishes. At home, students can watch the videos, record
examples and reflect on the use of the tenses used when expressing wishes. Later, in
class, they can practise together with their peers while the teacher can offer clarifications
and support.
