Notas de la Rectoría
Dear friends,
It is with great enthusiasm that we
share this edition of Los Nogales with
you. For decades, the Caminatas program has been one of the hallmarks
of the Colegio Los Nogales education. As you will see in the following
pages, the Caminatas program has
grown and evolved with the school,
while staying true to its initial purpose of connecting our students, in a
meaningful and lasting manner, with
Colombia, with their classmates and
teachers, and, perhaps most importantly, with themselves.
From its inception our Caminatas
program has been a leader in Colombia among school outdoor education
programs. We have set the standard in
terms of safety, logistics and educatio-

nal value, and continue to work hard to
raise the bar in each of those areas.
Personally, joining students in the field
is one of my great joys and one of the
most meaningful and important aspects
of my work as an educator. I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to
get to know the beautiful country of
Colombia through visits to the Amazon, Ciudad Perdida, El Cocuy, La
Tatacoa and beyond. But much more
than that, I am personally grateful for
the opportunity to get to know our students in another context, outside of the
classroom. Through these experiences,
my belief in the importance of this program has only been re-affirmed. I have
seen first-hand students struggle, work
