W
e are far from home. Many of us
don’t speak Spanish upon our arrival to Colombia. In our minds, we
can prepare for this new experience, moving to a new country. But in reality we are
faced with unimaginable and surprising challenges:
lost baggage, lost internet; security of self, of belongings, and of health insurance coverage; getting
from there to here, and once here, getting from
here to somewhere; banking and visas; finding an
apartment, and turning this into a home. For all
of these things and more, we turn to Catalina de
Jimeno, as she is our family in Colombia—our big
sister—and without her we would be lost. Thank
you, Catalina, for all that you do!
