Conclusão
Neste estudo verificou-se que a remodelagem cardíaca associada ao exercício físico é influenciada pelo género , sendo o masculino o mais afetado . A identificação de parâmetros ecocardiográficos fora dos intervalos de referência pode ter um significado patológico , particularmente no género feminino onde a remodelagem cardíaca através do exercício físico é menos acentuada .

Na última década foram desenvolvidas novas formas de estudo do miocárdio baseadas no pós-processamento da imagem ecocardiográfica através da metodologia de speckle tracking . Nos atletas pensa-se que o treino físico intenso e continuado está associado à diminuição da deformação longitudinal global ( DLG ) em valor absoluto , podendo representar uma adaptação fisiológica induzida pelo exercício físico , correspondendo a mais um parâmetro característico do “ coração de atleta ”. Na figura 1 estão representados dois ecocardiogramas de um atleta do género masculino , no início ( imagem A ) e no final ( imagem B ) da época desportiva , com a respetiva quantificação da DLG através da técnica de speckle tracking .
