For the last 13 years, the edi- tors of ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal® distributed an online questionnaire to thousands of professionals from all over the world to find out the world trends for the next year. This analysis allows the profession- als to schedule the activities of the next year. Only the trends, that indicate a general altera- tion or the changing of one situ- ation, are considered, with the elimination of the “fashions”, which create a lot of enthusi- asm, but are short-living. This is the top-10 of the list: 1. usable technology (smart watches, heart rate monitors, GPS appa- ratus, training monitors); 2. Group training, where the moni- tors have an important role to guide and to motivate the par- ticipants; 3. HIIT training, where the exercises are of short duration and of high-intensity, followed by rest periods; 4. Training programs for the elderly; 5. Body weight training; 6. Hiring of certificate profession- als; 7. Ioga; 8. Personnal training; 9. Functional training to improve the execution of activities of daily living and 10. Exercise is Medicine, a global health initiative. Published at ACSM’s Health & Fitness Jour- nal22(6):10-17, nov/dez2018. The National Association of Football Nurses and Masseurs (ANEDAF) is a “private law association, which main goal is the defense and promotion of the collective interests of their associates, it is affiliated at the FPF and “through its decisions, when asked, tries to value the nurses and the masseurs of football, futsal and beach soccer”, it is written in Facebook page of this association. It was founded on 05/06/1995 and they have their own office in Porto. With the aim to “strengthen even more the unity and the sharing in the class”, ANEDAF is carrying out, in their auditorium, the 1 st Lecture series of the 2018/2019 football season. There were already four lectures, all with great importance. It is highlighted the more recent, occurred on the 5 th of October, with the title Trauma and male genital pathology in football by Dr. Pedro Abreu Mendes, and on the 27 th it was the speaker Prof. Doctor J C Noronha, with the theme The Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury. We congratulate the dynamism of this Association, that certainly make jealous to other with similar goals. However, a change in the name to include the physiother- apists, which are a fundamental group on the actual football, would give greater representability of this Association. The 2 nd edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans is already available (see in the site of this Magazine). The 1 st edition was published on 2008. It is a quite long document, with 118 pages, whose reason for publication resides on the finding that “a lot of scientific evi- dence supports the recommendation that all americans must get involved on regular physical activity to ameliorate the global health and to reduce the risk for many problems”. It is stated at the Introduction that “about 117 billions of US dollars are spent on health care each year and about 10% of the premature death is associated to inadequate physical activity”. There are chapters with guidelines for preschool children, for children and adolescents, for adults, for the seniors, for the pregnant women and also for post-partum, for adults with chronic diseases and / or disabilities and, finally, to perform exercise safely. The aerobic training, the strength training, the strength- ening of the bones and the medical care are indicated there. It is an excellent text that explains all the aspects of physical exercise and the relation with health. Now we should read it and practice it. On november, the 30 th , it was the 75 th Scientific Meeting of CMEP, in which the Bastonary of the Order of Physi- cians, Dr. Miguel Guimarães, debated the theme What Health Policies for Por- tugal. It had, once again, a lot of par- ticipation, concerning the number of people present and the discussion. This subject was very timely, of great importance for the health of the Portuguese and a lot of ideas were discussed. However, it was a sad day because the 75 th Meeting was the last. Its creator and great invigorat- ing, Dr. Jaime Milheiro, referred that it was the end of a cycle, like fin- ishing a period that already lasted since October 2010, with a lot and good Meetings, with national guests from several places of Portugal, but also with some international guests (USA and Spain). In these meet- ings, initially organized at the CMEP facilities and after at the Order of Physicians facilities, news from the medical sciences were highlighted, with emphasis on sports medicine and on the medicine of longev- ity, with speakers that are medical doctors, physical education teach- ers, psychologists and nutritionists. They were moments of socializing, of sharing and learning that we can not enjoy anymore. They were good moments. Now we only have to thank Dr. Jaime Milheiro because of his resilience and to wait that one day he finds the strength to come back with 2 nd cycle of these Meet- ings. We will be waiting.
