Medicina DESPORTIVA in forma This edition is supported by: Bi-monthly Year 10 Number 01 January 2019 www.revdesportiva.pt Price – 2,50€ So, we arrived at the 10 th year of periodic timely publications and without no flaws. We got here because there were people and institutions that have been associated their availability and generosity to this project. I think we’ve been well, and we’ve been promoting Medicine, and sports medicine in particular. The magazine, its site and apps have been useful to congregate all that love this medical specialty and to show that it really exists, there is a reason to be here and it is useful to everybody. The difficulties have been a lot, but we survived. The future is ambitious, is laugha- ble and growing. News and surprises are being prepared, one of which will wipe away the nostalgy of the past. We’ll see … but we need you. This issue publishes several important subjects and contents. All deserve to be highlighted, but there is one I should stress out, since its content is of great importance for public health, for the individual subject, for the economy and for the saving of the national health system. Osteoporosis is a disease that “silently stills”, that afflicts more and more people and the inherent costs of its treatment and the lost labor days are in the order of the billions. The Portuguese Osteoporosis Association annually promotes a set of talks about this subject and the summaries of them, presented in November during the Health Fair of the Oporto Marathon, that are now published. The facts are evident: osteopo- rosis is preventable (is fightable) from the early ages with physical exercise and the ingestion of milk or its derivatives. The message is left here. Have a good new year. Basil Ribeiro, director. Interview: Dr. J. P.
