rubber extraction
The rubber is obtained from the tree called Hevea Brasiliensis, by means of a systematic treatment of "bleeding". The bark is deepened until it reaches the vegetal tissue. Rubber is an irreversible secretion or waste product of the tree, the more it is extracted, the more the substance is reproduced. Rubber is produced in the protoplasm by biochemical reactions of polymerization catalyzed by enzymes.
The fresh latex is transformed into rubber after harvesting. Firstly, it is poured through a perforated sheet screen to eliminate leaf and bark particles. Some plantations use a special hydrometer called Metralac, which determines the solid content of the latex without performing the test by evaporation. After dilution, the latex is allowed to stand for a short time so that the materials not separated by the sieve settle.
Then it is ready for coagulation. The seeds were successfully germinated in the greenhouses of the Royal Botanic Gardens in London, and were used to establish the first of the tree plantations.
