social organization

The Amazonian indigenous peoples live in complex, hierarchical organizations, divided into patrilineal lineages of an exogamic nature. Formerly and some still live like this, each group, with their lineages or clans live in one or more malokas, these are still collective dwellings and ritual spaces where the owner of Maloca, male jaguar or shaman of the group, also called Payé or Curaca, exercises dominion , depository of tradition and rituals. Some of these towns have ceremonial careers that make a person singer, performer of a particular dance, play the drums of maguaré, wear a special type of mask, etc. Marriage is preferably done with people from a different ethnic group. Stimulants and hallucinogens from the Brugmansia and Brunfelsia families are also used.
