Oscar Deveroaux Micheaux was an African American filmmaker, and author. He was born on January 2, 1884, and die on March 25, 1951. He made more than 44 films from 1919 to 1948. His movies were s challenge to racial discrimination. He is regarded as the first major African-American feature filmmaker.
