Volume 22 • Issue 04 • 2018 FOLLOW SPECIFIC AND LOGICAL STRUCTURE DURING DAILY OBSERVATION Looking at the head of animals is the first step in daily observation because even in a big group of animals the head is the most visible part of the body. If the heads of all animals are viewed and it looks normal the observer already has a good indication that there is no major problem in the herd. 01 HEAD UP 02 The second focus area is to get an immediate view of the hunger groove and overview of the whole body before dealing with some of the further observations that can be done over a period of time. 03 The animals can now be moved around slowly. This observation can also be done while the animals are herded. BODY CONDITION MOVEMENT Observation of animals breathing, drinking, and eating happens all day. Since these animals have big stomachs they will eat or graze and then go to rest while they re-chew the food accumulated in the big stomach. 04 WHAT GOES IN? 05 Because the animals are eating and drinking a large amount of food and water, they produce large volumes of dung and urine all day, which can be observed. WHAT COMES OUT? It then expands to include further observation subcategories that logically belong to these 5 main observation points.
