Now that you’ve spiced up your scents, it’s time to spike those beverages. One word: BOURBON. Add it to hot chocolate, apple cider or coffee, as it works with most warm beverages. Or brew a mulled wine on the stove by combining a bottle of red wine, a few cups of apple cider, and spices like cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. This, too, will make your house smell yummy and it’ll give you a tingle that’ll have you yearning for holiday tunes and snuggling as the temperatures drop. SPICE UP YOUR SCENT. Fall candle and air freshener scents don’t always have to be so predictable. Enough with the pumpkin spice already! Bring in notes of sandalwood, amber and cloves. If you like a little tradition, go for the apple cider scent at Yankee candle. For a mouthwatering aroma that will last all evening and smell just like Williams Sonoma, try the following recipes on the stove for a special night of entertaining with these simmering scents: In a pot, mix together 3-4 cups of water, orange peels, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves and allow to simmer all evening. For a fresh scent, mix together 3-4 cups of water, lemon, some rosemary sprigs, and a spoon full of vanilla. Cranberries, oranges, and spices like cloves can be mixed for a more festive scent, too, and as the holidays roll in, work in a combination of pine or cedar twigs, bay leaves, and nutmeg. You’re sure to have the yummiest smelling home on the block. REVEAL | Q3 2017 39 Take your entertaining outdoors and sit around the fire pit and enjoy the fresh scent of roasting marshmallows, crackling logs, and the sounds of laughter and togetherness. Pick up outdoor cushions from the end of season sales for next to nothing, and dress up your chairs with those blanket scarves that don’t get worn nearly enough. They truly double as small blankets that are great for carrying outdoors. This yummy s’more is perfect for those fall sweet tooth cravings. Roast a marshmallow, and in between two graham crackers, add white or milk chocolate, a teaspoon of pumpkin butter or a sliver of pumpkin pie, and sprinkle with pumpkin spice seasoning. This to me is what fall truly is, and I couldn’t think of a better season to gather with good friends to create some of the best memories you’ll ever have.
