4 equipment to
distinguish the
essential from
the optional.
“Production
equipment”
refers to ma-
chinery or tools youʼll need in order to run your
business or produce your product. A baker
needs an oven and a refrigerator, a typesetter
needs a computer; a retail store needs a cash
register. This doesnʼt imply newness or stateof-the-art, necessarily – just what you need to
stay competitive in the industry. A publishing
company does not have to have a computer or
a printer. This work can be subcontracted. But
you should analyze the cost of doing so versus
the cost of having your own equipment. Select
whichever is less or will produce a higher return.
YOUʼLL HAVE TO REEVALUATE YOUR
NEEDS OVER TIME. YOU MIGHT WANT
TO ADD PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT TO
YOUR BUSINESS GRADUALLY.
