RETAIL TECHNOLOGY LG shows off digital signage that draws shoppers, promises immersive user experience LG ELECTRONICS (LG) recently showcased the company’s latest commercial displays and home solutions. These innovations will supercharge the end-user experience across the retail, hospitality, transport and residential sectors, and revolutionise the way citizens of smart nations work and live, according to the company. LG said its commercial displays give retailers and brands the competitive edge they need to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. The Open Frame OLED (organic ligth-emitting diode) digital signage, for example, can transform any space into a canvas for effective advertising. A 7,600sqf video wall, comprising 820 panels, has been installed at the Dubai Aquarium, which is located in the Dubai Mall. The mammoth installation gives visitors an introduction to the mall as well as plays advertisements. The use of these panels at the Dubai Aquarium is particularly fitting because their curved form factor follows the undulations of flowing water. The LG OLED Canyon is another example of an immersive installation of Open Frame OLED digital signage. Comprising 246 displays in concave and convex configurations, the massive OLED Canyon led visitors through natural wonders displayed on the screens, such as a forest, glacier, waterfall, blizzard and others, as if they were really there. Another LG display is the 55-inch Transparent OLED signage, which marvels with its razor-thin bezels and elegant form factor.
