Without the administrative vision and financial support of the late Joseph
Meyerhoff, the BSO’s Baltimore home—referred to by most simply as
“the Meyerhoff”—would not exist. His son Bud, grandson Joe, and
great-granddaughter Buffy are among the Meyerhoff family members
who have helped sustain that vision and support. “When you have wealth,”
says Bud, “a slice of it ought to go back to your community.” Joe, who
has chaired the hall’s Building and Grounds Committee for nearly a decade,
considers it “part of our civic duty.” Buffy agrees. “Cultural institutions
like the BSO are the hallmarks of a vibrant city. Supporting these
organizations makes Baltimore thrive.”
