New Donor Spotlights! Tedd + Teri Alexander T edd + T eri A lexander and R eco + T iffani C ollins We are humbled by the increase of Brown Challenge supporters from Year One to Year Two. Among these new supporters are Tedd and Teri Alexander. While both Tedd and Teri are busy doing amazing work for a variety of organizations in Baltimore, they were drawn to the OrchKids mission and, more importantly, to the students we serve. Teri and I have made Baltimore our home for the past 27 years and have raised three sons who enjoy the advantages of opportunity and access. We are committed to helping make the same invaluable resources that our children have, available to all youth in Baltimore City. The OrchKids students are a beaming example of what is possible when opportunity and access is realized. -Tedd Alexander We are grateful to Tedd for his efforts to engage his colleagues at T. Rowe Price and introduce more of the corporate community to OrchKids. Last June, Tedd and Teri hosted a cocktail party (which included an OrchKids performance) at Sullivan’s Steakhouse to help support the Challenge. Among the guests at Sullivan’s that night was Reco Collins. Reco, who is still in the early years of his professional career, is dedicated to encouraging other young African American professionals to get involved in their communities. Since partnering with the Brown Challenge team, Reco has been hard at work making new connections for OrchKids including: introducing OrchKids to Black Young Professionals, a network of over 350 young African American professionals, and working on plans for a fundraiser with the group in early 2018; working with the OrchKids team to build new strategies to help the Brown Challenge meet its goals. We asked Reco to share his thoughts on the following questions: Why are you supporting the Brown Challenge for OrchKids? My wife, Tiffani, and I are supporting the Brown Challenge because we believe OrchKids is a phenomenal program that is exposing underserved students to the arts and building their confidence and character. It was easy for us get behind and support this initiative. We understand the importance of extracurricular activities and the positive impact they can have on the overall education experience. Why do you think it’s important to engage more African American professionals in this fundraising initiative? As Mr. and Mrs. Brown have stated, African Americans need to support causes that are doing good work in their communities. OrchKids is doing just that. It is important that other African American professionals participate in the Brown challenge to show that we, too, believe in our kids and support their growth. The call to action to give to the Brown Challenge is great way to engage the black community of Baltimore in supporting positive change and growth of our City’s youth. Reco and Tiffani Collins
