11 (01) This BGCM recognises that pressures on trade union organisation, workers’ rights, collective bargaining, access to justice and meaningful employment are all under the greatest pressure they have been since the before the Second World War and probably longer. (02) This BGCM believes that in this context the GFTU has a vital role to play both to support specialist trade unions and sections of larger general unions. While the BGCM fully recognises that there is one trade union centre, the TUC, it firmly believes that the GFTU can add substantial value to all affiliates. (03) adding value in the period ahead the GFTU must continue the welcome EC-led In review of all its finances and areas of activity and should look to providing a greater variety of support services to affiliates and working with a wide range of partners to achieve this end. (04) This BGCM notes the extreme pressure that the current attacks on trade union organisation through the Beercroft proposals, erosion of collective bargaining, the changes to Employment Tribunals and the Jackson review of legal systems and changes to Legal Help are placing on working people and their families. (05) This BGCM believes that the GFTU should adapt and develop its support services to assist affiliates through this difficult period with a wide range of support as required by individual affiliates. This BGCM calls on affiliates to see the GFTU as a vital additional source of assistance on a range of issues. Future Role of the GFTU Resolution 08 BGCM Resolutions 2013/2015 | GFTU
