Johan Kruger- Chairperson CAISA and GM Pecanwood Golf Estate
Johan Kruger started his career in Estate
Management more than 10 years ago. A
B-Com graduate from the University of Pretoria,
his earlier career included facility and events
management.
As stadium manager at Loftus Versfeld, he was
involved in the 1995 Rugby World Cup as well
as the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations. He joined
Sun International in the late 1990’s as an Events
Executive and was involved with the Million
Dollar Golf challenge, Africa’s major golfing
event.
Johan’s current position is the Community
Association Manager at Pecanwood Estate,
an 810 erven freehold of development on the
shore of the Hartbeespoort Dam in the North
West Province. A Jack Nicklaus designed golf
course, the first in Africa, forms part of this
development.
He is currently the Chairman of the CAI SA
and serves on the Association of Residential
Communities Founder Member’s committee,
with a special interest in education and human
development.
Johan obtained his PCAM in 2012 and is also
now a member of the National Faulty of CAI.
Richard Kelland – Estate Manager Victoria Country Club Estate
Richard Kelland graduated as a civil engineer
from the University of Cape Town in 1976. His
engineering career included both consulting
and contracting in the field of road construction
and rehabilitation.
His entrepreneurial instincts have led him
to spend most of his career in the formal
engineering environment. However, he has
spent valuable years as a self-employed
contractor both in S.A. and the U.S.A.
focusing on small engineering work in the
home construction industry. Richard has also
consulted at regional government level on the
establishment of IT-based trade portals.
Richard successfully conceptualised and
created his first residential golf estate called
Matumi Golf Estate, at the Nelspruit Golf Club in
Mpumalanga in 1997.
Willem Marx Born in Vereeniging in 1962, Willem Marx
matriculated in 1980 and studied Software
Development (EDP) in the Vaal Triangle. As
a software developer, Willem started an I.T.
company specialising in custom designed
software and business integration.
Willem is an experienced business consultant
with excellent business administration,design
and management skills, and has strong
technological background.
In 1999, Richard launched the Victoria
County Club Estate development, securing
development rights in April 2003. Richard’s
visionary ability coupled with his passion and
commitment to developing the golfing and
tourism industry in the area is a great asset to
Pietermaritzburg.
Estate Manager Oubaai Golf Estate
In 2006, Willem and Thea decided to retire
from corporate environments and chose the
small town of George in the Southern Cape
over the hustle and buzzle of the city. They
moved down from Johannesburg to Oubaai
Golf Resort and Spa in the heart of the Garden
Route.
Willem served on the Board of Trustees from
2006 to 2012 before becoming the Oubaai
Golf Resort and Spa Estate Manager.
