people-counting system , which was then extended to the bicycle management system for COP 17 ( the 17th United Nations Climate Change Conference ), for which Rob won a design award from the SAIEE .
Over the past 19 years Rob has been engaged in a number of projects in the security industry involving both secure estate and national key point environments as well as public open space , which have led to some interesting international opportunities . During this period , he has consulted on over 50 residential estates and is the consulting editor for the Residential Estate Security Handbook . Rob has also presented a course on measuring electrical quantities for architecture students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal . He is a moderator for the Electrical Machines II and III courses at the Durban University of Technology , which enables him to keep in touch with the education of future engineers .
Rob believes that the security of estates has matured as an industry , and should be seen as a branch of engineering .

Jonathan gilmour

Jonathan Gilmour is the Business Development Manager at the Association of Residential Communities ( ARC ) and owner of The Community People , a recruitment company specialising in homeowners ’ association ( HOA ) management placements . Having been exposed to the intricacies of community management at a young age , he developed an early passion for serving the residential community industry . He has worked closely with his father , Jeff Gilmour , since joining ARC in 2015 .
Jonathan ’ s first six months at ARC were spent working at the HOA offices of Eagle Canyon Golf Estate , Fourways Gardens and St Francis Links , learning from some of the best community managers and HOA staff in the country . As Business Development Manager , he is now responsible for member and partner acquisition , marketing functions and extending ARC ’ s reach nationally . This year , Jonathan attended his first Community Associations Institute ( CAI ) annual conference in Orlando , Florida , and is on course to receive his Certified Manager of Community Associations ( CMCA ) professional designation through CAI ’ s South African chapter .
Prior to joining ARC , Jonathan received a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management from the University of Stellenbosch in 2013 . He then spent 2014 working for Associa , USA ’ s largest HOA management company , at their corporate offices in Dallas , Texas .
